How It Works:
The individuals in a community support a farm operation and buy a share or a part of the crops, pay some of the cost and in return they get fresh produce directly from the farm throughout the growing season each week. The community supports the food source. Community Supported Agriculture connects the customers to the farmers directly
The people involved actually end up saving money in the long run because sometimes they get more food for less money.

Why is it important? What impact does it have on the world?
CSA is important because it connects the farmers directly to the consumers and their buyers. Community Supported Agriculture helps the farmers survive and manage their money knowing that people want to buy their food even at the risk of having crop failure. It helps improve the quality of the food as well because it supports organic farms. Community supported agriculture helps the environment as well because it puts less chemicals and pesticides into the soil and air. It helps the small organic farms stay in business because the community helps pay in return for fresh foods.
It is important because it also helps the local residents and consumers know where their food is coming from and they get fresh locally grown foods.

The people involved in CSA's are always meeting new people and are being introduced to new vegetables and foods that normal places would not sell. CSA also help increase local jobs and that benefits the local economy and the earth in general. Small farms like CSAS care more about the health of their neighbors, the earth and all their animals and soil, where as the huge agricultural corporate businesses just want to sell tons of food for cheap money and care less about health and quality.
