Health Risks of Pesticides

What is it?

Pesticides can cause many health problems. For example, they can cause birth defects, nerve damage, cancer, and other effects that might occur over a long period of time. Even so, it really depends on how toxic the pesticide is and how much of it is consumed. Some pesticides effect children in a different way. The reason people think this(about the children) is because their internal organs are still developing and maturing, in relation to their body weight, infants and children eat and drink more than adults, possibly increasing their exposure to pesticides in food and water, and certain behaviors such as playing on floors or lawns or putting objects in their mouths, increasing a child's exposure to pesticides used in homes and yards. The reason people think this(about humans in general) is because pesticides are designed to kill and because their mode of action is not specific to one species, they often kill or harm organisms other than pests, including humans.

Why is this important? What impact does it have on the world?

It is important because it effects the families of the lives that are lost from pesticides. They also cause disease and disorders and they can really effect a person and their family. It has a huge impact on the world because it causes a lot more deaths and without the health risks of pesticides the world would be a much better place.
