What is hydroponics?

Growing plants without the use of common dirt and using a water solution rich in nutrients.

Well how do hydroponic systems work?

There are six types of hydroponic systems, Wick, Water Culture, Ebb and Flow, Drip and Nutrient Film Technique and Aeroponic

I will tell you about the simplest hydroponic system, the Wick system

The Wick system is a passive system, which means there are no moving parts to the system. The nutrient solution is taken into the growing medium from the reservoir with a wick. This system uses a variety of growing medium like Perlite, Vermiculite, Pro-Mix and Coconut Fiber are the common used mediums. One problem with this system is if you have large plants use more of the nutrient solution than the wick can supply.

Wick- A yarn, group of yarns, or a narrow woven fabric or braid with good capillary properties. Used particularly in candles and oil lamps.

How can this be a good thing at all?

Well there are many positive things to using hydroponics to growing plants

Positive effects: Simple setup and minimal items to use, when the plants are produced they are rich in nutrients and produced as very healthy plants.

Hydroponic growth can be done indoors or outdoors, which is good for any type of climate. Also you can use lights as a source of sunlight so you can grow them any time

Pest Elimination

Hydroponic gardening is beneficial in eliminating pests and insects, so you don't have to worry about using any pesticides to keep threats away.
